Day 1 – Kyzart to Kilemche Valley
We meet in Kyzart village and have lunch in a local family house while you get to know your guide and horses. After a short briefing and saddle check, we begin riding up into the Kilemche valley. The trail follows open pastures and gentle hills, with a rest stop by the Bazar-Turuk river halfway. By late afternoon we reach our first overnight stop at around 2,500 m, staying with a local family in a yurt. Dinner and tea are served on arrival.
Day 2 – Kilemche Valley to Son-Kul via Tuz-Ashuu Pass (3,500 m)
After breakfast we mount up and continue towards the high Tuz-Ashuu Pass. The climb is steady but rewarded with wide views over the valley and, on clear days, the distant mountains. We take a break at the top for photos and to enjoy the scenery before descending to the broad shores of Son-Kul. On arrival we settle into a family yurt camp by the lake and have lunch. The afternoon is free to walk along the shore, relax with tea, or simply rest. Dinner and overnight in a traditional yurt.
Day 3 – Son-Kul back to Kyzart
In the morning there is time for a last walk or photos by the lake before breakfast. We then ride back towards Kyzart, following a familiar mountain route down from the high pastures. The ride takes around four hours, with short breaks along the way. On arrival in Kyzart we have lunch at a local house, where the tour ends and onward transport can be arranged if needed.
Included in the price:
• Horses and local horse guide
• 2 nights in yurt camps (2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners)

Riding Experience
This tour is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. You should be comfortable spending 3–5 hours in the saddle per day, mostly on uneven or sloping paths. Kyrgyzstan is mountanous, the trip is mostly mountain trail riding, with brief flat areas on the shoreline of Son-Kul where galloping is possible for experienced riders.
Please tell us your riding experience when you book (beginner / intermediate / experienced and any relevant details), so the stable can match you with suitable horses and adjust the pace of the tour.
Accommodation & Facilities
Overnight stays are in family yurts (4 - 6 beds per yurt).
There are no showers at Son-Kul due to the remote location. Washing is basic, with bowls of hot water provided.
Season & Weather
The tour runs all year round.
From October to April it can be very cold with snow in the mountains. The yurts are heated with furnaces at night.
In spring and winter you will need proper winter clothing: warm layers, hat, gloves, thermal socks and good waterproofs.
Guides & Language
The riding guides from the stable may only speak basic (or no) English.
If you require an English-speaking guide, please contact us in advance. For an additional fee, one of our own guides can accompany you.
Transport to Kyzart
Transfer from Bishkek to Kyzart is not included (4 - 5 Hours by Taxi)
We can assist with organising a private transfer by hiring a taxi: 7,500 KGS one way (per car).
Safety, Helmets & Insurance
Horse riding in mountain terrain carries inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury or death.
While the horses are generally calm and suitable for beginners, and riding helmets can be provided on request, you ride at your own risk.
You must have your own travel/medical insurance that specifically covers horse riding. By booking this tour, you accept these risks and responsibilities.
